It depends on which wmv codec was used. If it was encoded in the newer
wmv 9 codec you'll have to use windows media player for mac. Otherwise
I prefer VLC videolan.org another option is to use mplayer.

Have any person anywhere been able to actually look at WMV content with
that? I seem to only remember black screens from my OS 9 days and that's
more than 4 years now.

Well, it works on here (mind you, I'm playing back the sample.wmv file).

A lot of WMV's play on my Mac with 9.2, but I've noticed that there is
less success with the newer generation of WMV movies... sound but no
picture. At work on my G5 with system X.2 they are fast and clean!

tried it with other stuff - OK.

I'm glad WMP works for you, Roger. My original point however, was that
freeware like VLC or Mplayer in my experience works better and with more

Well, I guess you have a G4 or fast G3. I suppose this shows some people
have WMP working for some files, but I'm

VLC is a nice alternative.
There is a OS 9 version of VLC? I wasn't aware of that.
Did you try Media Player with your problem codecs?
