I'm not sure I understand
"the Mac driver ONLY looks at the serial port for the printer"
It sounds like the powerbook is the print server looking for the printer
on the network to forward a job received over the ethernet. Or is it
that the powerbook needs network drivers to find a printer on the
ethernet?
I wanted to have a printer hooked up to a box that plugs into the
ethernet.
Once I have the print job converted to ethernet (proper drivers on
powerbook) then it doesn't matter whether the server box connects to the
printer via serial or parallel since all incoming jobs are ethernet?
I suppose I should also be worrying about whether my Linksys BEFW11S4
(?) wireless switch/router will pass the appletalk commands properly. I
think I read some posts here suggesting that that might be an issue.

Thanks for your help
