Have you changed your extension set?
I had exactly the same phenomena and tracked the issue down to a missing
extension (...I'm stretching here, but I think it was a 'sprocket'
thingy?!).
If that doesn't sound likely, why not just do the honors and trash the old
version and reinstall?
