yeah it does, not right considering they for years talked of it as
though it was completely platform independent, it happened recently.
I ran in to this same problem recently wanting the latest and
greatest on my ppc mac derp apparently not.
So bottom line is, there is no Java
I thought I ask you folks instead of all the experts roaming the
internet. I run x.5.8 on an quicksilver and now some programs are
asking for Java 1.6 and there seem to be very conflicting views on if
Java 1.6 can be found and be made to work on X.5.8. Any expert tips?

If it is the reason for the failure of your motherboard, replacing
them will be not only cheaper than a used replacement, but will
certainly increase the chances of it lasting longer than a used one.
So I figured. Glad you agree. Hope Andy pays you a percentage. ;-)

Folks,
I've suffered the dreaded G5 capacitor collapse. Since I don't think
I'll manage replacing them I'm thinking of replacing the entire logic
board. Any ideas where one can find one?

he larger one is the power cable however it's just as easy to
misconnect both. Look real close also I've damaged the cables by
pulling them the wrong way.
Can one start a G5 open just to hear if the drive starts at all?

Back again. Trying get a new 500 GIG Caviar WD5000AA to work on a G5
20-inch 1.8 Ghz machine. The Machine starts fine on a install CD but
neither the installer or Disc Utility can even find the new drive.
The drive has been tested on another Mac and had been formated ok.
The
cables look ok.
The old one had a jumper. ;-) And I put it in the same spot on the
new drive.
Not sure if there ever was a resolution to this or not and I'm
curious.
As was previously pointed out, just copying the jumper settings from
an old drive to a new one is not a good way to go. Did you try
of leakage on the
capacitors. Otherwise, I'd say the hard drive is dead.

So there is no way the computers can do that between themselves?
I believe that Google Calendar works with iCal you could sync to
that and that way it would be available online for both computers.

I'm trying to place an image at the center of my desktop and use a
plan color as background. For some reaseon the desktop settings gizmo
refuses to do this and instaed splashes the image either all over the
desktop or repeats it like tiles.
These two folders are just there in my X.5 User/Library/Application
Support -folder. What are these for? Anyone who knows what might have
