Lately I have noticed that many web sites which I formerly accessed with no
problem now take forever to load if they load at all. The only commonality
seems to be the use of Open Type fonts in these web pages; the Activity
command reports the download of many items of the form

Yes, you can. I have web-based email through my ISP (Verizon) but I
use Mail exclusively on my home computer (Beige G3 w/G4 upgrade
running Tiger 10.4.11) because I prefer its organizational features. I
can still check my email on the web when away.

That's odd. I just clicked on that link, and it immediately opened for
me in Safari
Thanks for those suggestions. However, there is nothing in my startup
items in System Preferences that are related to either Yahoo or
Konfabulator, and there appears to be nothing obvious in /Library/
Startup items either.
