Many programs play alert sounds. Mail is the first one that comes to
mind.
What is your system doing just before the sound?

yes, but thats all it does.. other than let me pick which one I want
for system alert sound. It just seems like there should be software
that tells me what alert sounds are being used for what hmm. J
