I used Applejack to test my RAM.
I never log in either, I am the only user on my machine.
All I did was Shut Down, then Start up using Cmd-S.
The rest was pretty automatic.
No problems.

If the instruction that come with the applejack application are not
understandable then I would recommend that you trash the program and
not attempt to run it under any circumstance.
