Steve: That is the airport card slot. See the little antenna wire there? Most 
Wifi cards with built-in antennae are too long to close the lid. Hold out for 
an original airport card. -Stephen

You mean the PCI slot?  It can take a variety of PCI cards.  It can take most 
USB and FW cards.  Video and drive controller cards need to be Mac versions 
(either original or by having their on board ROM upgraded).  Other cards depend 
on whether there is a Mac driver available or not.
