May be the Sampling rate or Bit rate are to less for the
library used on your system for SDL_sound.
I don't think it's bit rate, imho it's definitely the sampling rate.

Some of my mp3 files play at the wrong speed using sdl.sound. They play
correctly using commercial players . I notice that they are MPEG Version 2
files.
Is this the cause?
