Hello!
I just posted this to AudioGames.net. If you're disappointed because you can't
use custom vehicles in multi-player mode, this may be a fun thing for you to
read. Furthermore, I talked about what we currently think will be the future
of Top Speed. I'd love to have some community
Hi Thomas,
Guess I'm still good to go then since I do not use the DirectX 8.1 3d mixer,
just panning and volume.

Hi Jim,
Actually, DirectX 8.1 doesn't really support 5.1 and 7.1 hardware
based mixing. DirectSound 8 was actually written for 4.1 stereo sound

Yeah, here was what I was told. And I have passed it along to many and it has
fixed them right up.

Hi Nicol,
You are very welcome. I am really happy to hear that you like my Simon game so
well.
Like you, I like the cartoon and gun sounds the best. But piano, guitar and
phone are fun as well. And then the numbers and letters are challenging.
Thanks again for saying how much you like my
I usually play on either household or star trek.
I like the game however I kind of miss some of the things you had in your

Hi Davy.
I wanted to give my opinion about the article.
Myself I certainly would be willing to pay for a new shareware nice
racing game.
Racing games are amoung my favourite games. I paid for railracer, and 3

Anyways I still
Hi Jim,
Yes you are in that regard. My current development project Mysteries
of the Ancients just uses standard stereo panning and volume which
seams to work fine under Windows 7 with DirectSound 8.1. Once Philip

Hi Muhammed,
Yeah, I know. When it comes to finances you are preaching to the

things will get much better soon.
Anyway, all I was saying is that generally speaking the more you spend

I'd get one when I'm older, or today or tomorrow, Maybe. I'm not sure. But
you can't have what you want always in your life. I thought of trying out a

up.

Hi Kai,
Thanks for the description of the Logitech Rumble F510,
and great timing as I just got one today.
Did you try it with Shades of Doom?

Greetings Phil.
I don't generally use game pads and such with games like Shades of doom,
simply because SOD requires so many functions, and the centering commands
aren't easily assignable on the controller.
I do use my controller to play Top Speed 3 and my Playstation Emulator,
however.
Hi,
In deed it is good timing. I've been thinking of replacing my Philips
2909 and my Rumble Pad II with something a bit newer that can handle
XInput as well as DirectX 8. Not to mention I'm finding the game pads
I currently have don't have enough buttons I can map actions too. With

Hi Kai,
That's exactly the same problem I'm encountering with joystick support
in Mysteries of the Ancients. I've finally got it added, and am
handing the private test release over to my testers for testing
tonight.
Anyway, the big problem i can see with joystick support is I have more

Hi Thomas,
I have the same problem assigning game pad buttons for Shades of Doom and
the Sarah game.
As they were originally designed for keyboards there was no reason to limit
how many hot keys.
In Sarah I am putting several status functions together to get more
information with one key

Greetings Thomas.
A lot of console games, rather than assigning a specific function to every
key, assign certain keys as modifiers, so that holding a key + another key
performs a function.
Lets take our Rumble 2 / F510 gamepad and MOAT as an example:
One could hold down L2 (Button 7, the
I agree Phil, I want to try a gamepad with Shades or Pipe2, but as they are
both different engens and I don't have a clue about what pad to get, I've no
chance of finding out how to map each button to each keystroke, there
doesn't seem enough buttons for such a big game.

Sorry about that. Left my keyboard mid-post, and came back and accidentally
dropped the keyboard, which caused it to insert a bunch of blank lines.

Hi Phil,
Well, basically that's what my profiler does in MOTA. you press enter
on configure joystick and it lists a number of functions you can map
to buttons. It is currently incomplete, but the eventual aim of the
profiler is to make mapping functions to a joystick or game pad much
easier.
Hi Lori,
From the sounds of it I'm betting this Logitech F510 is going to be a
pretty good game pad. I've got plans to purchase one myself as soon as
I have the cash. I'm kinda in a financial hole right now, and don't
really want to spend the money on stuff like that right now, but I'm
interested
Hi Kai,
Well, its like this. DirectInput can certainly handle multiple button
states. I do a little of that for walk, run, jump, etc. While
DirectInput certainly supports multiple buttons together to combined
moves my problem is creating a profiler that can map multiple buttons
at the same time
Greetings Thomas.
You may consider a stat list, wherein pressing the Status button puts the
game into a paused state. The gamer could then arrow up and down the various
stats.
Such an approach would allow you to place more pertinent bits of info on
certain keys, while leaving other reports in
