As for loud rock music when bowling I think one has to be sighted to
appreciate it. For us being blind we have to depend so much on audio
feed back as to how many pins are up, where to aim to get the right
pins, that any music is a distraction. As a blind bowler myself I can
fully understand why you would think loud music while bowling isn't
enjoyable.
However, I do remember bowling when I was sighted and back then having
loud music blasting while bowling was quite fun. For one thing I could
see what pins were up/down, could see where to aim, etc so wasn't
dependant on any audio assistance to play. So I could bowl set after
set with music blasting, and if it was something upbeat and energetic
like rock music I could get pumped on the music while bowling.
In short, bowling to rock music is a bit like exorcising to rock
music. As long as it isn't a distraction it can be quite enjoyable and
entertaining as long as what is playing is something the person
enjoys. If the music is something the person doesn't like or has to
hear what he or she is doing then it becomes a problem.

It's probably like what they used to call "rock and bowl" at the bowling
center that I used to bowl in. They put big column speakers down near

lanes and crank the volume of rock music to a point at which you could
not
hear anyone talking nearby. People would bowl with the music blasting.

am used to a quiet setting when trying to concentrate on my shots, and I
have to be told what pins remain standing after the first ball. I only
tried "rock and bowl" once, and don't understand how people can enjoy it.
