Rather than using sleep mode, which keeps JAWS running, use insert f4 to
remove it from RAM.

I just turn off voice and hotkeys of hal.
So If something happens or I need to review files or note down things

I've written a few general game set files which turn off all but the
voice of window-eyes. This way if you have msn messenger running or some
IM program you can still hear those while playing but generally it

It sounds like it could possibly be a DirectX problem. Do you have
at least DirectX 8.X installed? Nothing that we know of in the game
itself could cause your machine to lock up as you have described,
though I have experienced DirectX doing this in the past.
