Just a side comment here - but I think if we can use zeroconf to get
nodes reporting their metrics automatically to the headnode's gmetad,
that would be really awesome.
Anybody knows how easy or difficult this will be?

sorry that I have ignored you :-) Definitely, I am very much
interested to have a mechanism to insert metrics from non-Ganglia
clients into the stream. And, surprise surprise, SNMP is on top of the
list.
Just time does not allow to dig deeper into this.
