Dear Ganglia Developers:

I have been throwing the idea of joining the Apache Software
Foundation with the project admins (most notably Matt Massie and Brad
Nicholes) for the last half a year or so and I think now is the time
for us to do it.

Here are some of the benefits of joining an umbrella foundation such as ASF:

- Better brand recognition in enterprises
- Exposure to larger developer community
- Infrastructure hosting (code repository, bug tracking, website, forums, etc.)
- Legal entity (for monetary donation to the project to fund
hackathons, developer travels etc.)

The process is a bit involved but I think we can get through it with
enough support. First we need to have an ASF member "champion" our
project for entry into Apache Incubator. Brad Nicholes has offered to
do that for us so we will need to write up a proposal and post that to
the respective mailing-list.

I would like to hear the comments from the greater Ganglia community,
to get feedback from you guys to see if this is something the
community would like to see happen going forward.

For those interested in learning more about the process, you can check
out the following link:

Thank you for your attention,

Bernard
