I can confirm that the 2.5.4 tar ball does indeed work with a 2.6.0-test1-ac3
kernel as compiled by gcc-3.3 (both kernel and gmond).

I sent a patch to allow gmond to work with 2.5.x and 2.6. I believe
it's was checked into CVS before this release, so it should have support
now.
I put a tarball of the 2.5.4 monitor-core here:
