Ah yes, my apologies - I must have misread the patch.  Although yes,
it would be painful to see what happens when/if  /dev3 occurs... but
why would such a thing be neccessary (an initrd for an initrd for the
kernel/modules? I think not.) -- I'm thinking it shouldn't have to
happen.

I think the only way to find out is to create a bug report, attach a
patch against CVS, and adjust it while necessary until someone commits
it to CVS or you are said that it will never be committed (unlikely, I
hope).
