>From what I can see, the heat map requires canvas, an HTML5 element which is not supported below IE9. If you want to do some real "hacking", you could try adding this bit of JavaScript written by Google that allows HTML5 in the obsolete browsers. http://code.google.com/p/explorercanvas/downloads/
