running gmetad will work..

Why not set host to 127.0.0.2, and add a record for 127.0.0.2 to
whatever name resolution mechanism(s) you have in place (hosts files,

This would get unmanageable rather quickly for a large cluster, again
I'm talking about those one-off unicast machines (although it would be
nice if future ganglia releases supported some sort of shared key to
optionally encrypt the cluster/multicast traffic as well).
