I had noted that the Tampa club wasn't as active as I thought it would be
(or had been in the past). I didn't realize the UFAA had throttled the
clubs so much - that also explains why there aren't as many speakers, etc.
Thanks all for the explanation!

I've heard the same thing about the Charlotte County Gator Club where my
parents are still involved in what is left of the club.
My problem with tickets is for games like Toledo and Georgia Southern and
Vandy (2-3 games/yr) where if some of my family can't attend and I have
extra tickets, anyon
Yeah, it didn't make me happy to share that information, but the reporter
was a friend of a friend, and I just didn't want to be made out to be some
fair weather fan. And I really would rather just give tickets away to those
crummy games to good Gator fans than sell them at a loss to some stranger

I can only speak for the Jacksonville Gator Club.
When I was on the Board of the Jax Gator Club in the mid-80s we had to raise
some significant money.the UAA required us to pay for the Cheerleader
accommodations if we wanted them Thursday night for the pep rally, we also
had to pay to feed the
Same here. I am only 30 minutes north of Jax in Callahan and last fall when
we were renovating our house, I was hoping to be able to listen to the games
while I worked on the house. Unfortunately, I couldn't pull a station in so
I recorded them and watched them that night.

All of that makes perfect sense, but then to apply that sense to the voters in
the polls would just be silly. I was merely explaining what most of the voters
were thinking. They looked at simple facts and applied it to their ballots.
They didn't follow Georgetown and UF all year. They didn't
Ditto. We used to have great FM coverage here. Now the "Gator Network" is on a
small AM station located near downtown Tally. The signal barely reaches out 5
miles and if it's a night game you get nothing-zip. I've taken to slowly
searching the AM and FM band with my old "dial" radio looking for
On a somewhat related topic. Apparently the Gator radio network is not
what it once was. A couple of years ago we were watching the Dawgs and
Gators with the Palm Beach Gator club and decided to head back to Port
St Lucie a little early. It was nearly impossible to find a radio
broadcast of the
Similar though not so drastic effect here as well. The majority of the 15-20k
of scholarship dollars we give away each year comes from the annual golf event
followed by the Gathering. We have had zip from the athletic department or
alumni. Nada BUT---We do get Pat Dooley every year and that pull
I believe the Martin county Gator club has also disbanded.

Collier County Gator Club doesn't exist anymor
For Miami and f$U it has been an issue all along. Their fans just don't
care about watching them eke out 40 point wins over the powerful ACC.
Our fans are just getting soaked to death.

Spurrier was great going to the Gator clubs around the state, but he didn't
like doing it. The contract between the UAA and the head ball coach
(Spurrier and his successors) substantially reduced the number of Gator

We've not received any honorable guests here in over 2 years. Unless you're
counting Pat Dooley. No offense, Pat does a great job, but we haven't had a

There is no question that UF would have won that game and made round of 8.
I also believe that we match up better with Kansas than Michigan, and may well
have made the Final Four.

We had a relatively easy path to the Elite 8 and then promptly got smacked in
the face. There are some that say we would not have made it to the Elite 8 at
all if not for the other upsets.

I guess the thought process on Kansas was that it played Michigan a lot closer
