Record: 35-5.

The stars: The Oh-Fours came back for another try at a national title and
they delivered; Al Horford was a beast underneath; Corey Brewer refined his
3-point shot to become a weapon; Taurean Green managed almost every game he
played in that year; Lee Humphrey set the NCAA Tournament record for 3s
made.

What they did: With all of the pressure on them to repeat, the Gators did
just that. In the process, they won the SEC title and celebrated by cutting
down the nets. The reason this team is No. 1 is because they had to deal
with so much whether it was pushy agents, media spotlight or teams gunning
for them. And, of course, there was that special night when the football
team was honored on the court and passed the torch of burden on to the
basketball team. This team was so good it never trailed in three blowout
wins at the SEC Tournament, then knocked off UCLA and Ohio State in the
Final Four.

Big moment: The toughest game for Florida in the 2007 NCAA Tournament came
against Purdue in the second round in New Orleans. The Gators trailed at the
half and were in a tight game late thanks to the Boilermakers' Carl Landry.
But Horford came up big down the stretch making three baskets inside and
flexed his muscles for the cameras during the Gators' 74-67 win. This was
the moment when you could see the tournament experience from the year before
paying off.

Fun fact: No wonder the Atlanta Hawks jumped all over Horford in the NBA
Draft that year. In six games in the tournament, the Gator center collected
68 rebounds setting a UF record for rebounds in the Big Dance in one season.

Quote: "You think about Taurean Green and Lee Humphrey your starting
backcourt and they both were terrific. I think everybody looks at the
frontline but you know here are two really good solid players who played a
lot better than people really expected or imagined or thought they could." -
Billy Donovan
