Do you remember the alluring beach in the song "Sagar kinare, dil yeh pukare" from the movie 'Sagar'? GayBombay takes you to that very beach on the occasion of its 11th Anniversary celebrations. That's Nagaon Beach, some 7 kms to the south of Alibaug
Nagaon Beach is known to be one of the most cleanest beaches along the Konkan Coast. The beach is lined by Suru trees that almost form a curtain between civilization and the vast expanse of the sea. Being not so much known, visitors to this beach seem to have the privileges of being on private beach. Nagaon promises to be a perfect destination to unwind during weekends. So pack your sunscreens and swimwears and set off for a great day on the Konkan coast, gleefully lapping amidst the waves and the lush coconut and palm trees. The chances are that you will leave this place with a promise to return again. This picnic is open the first 50 persons who register and pay. Day & Date: Sunday 04 October 2009 Schedule: We shall depart on a semi luxury bus parked at the main gate of Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali (East), at sharp 6:00 am. You can board the bus at any of the pick-up locations listed below. To choose the pick-up location that entails the latest start and optimal travel time click here. 6:00 am: Main Gate, Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali (East) 6:20 am: Gold Spot (Bisleri) Factory, Western Express Highway, Andheri (East). 6:35 am: Kala Nagar Junction Bandra, (At the Kala Nagar/BKC exit of the new Skywalk) 6:50 am: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Near Sion Station. 7:05 am: Yogi Hotel, Diamond Gardens, Chembur (East) 7:20 am: Vashi (ST Stop at Junction of Station Road and Sion Panvel Highway) 7:30 am: Uran Phata, Nerul, 7:50 am: ST Depot, Panvel. 8:30 am: ST Depot, Pen. 9:15 am: Junction of Alibaug-Revdanda Road (Outside Alibaug Toll Station) All timings listed above are departure timings of the bus so be there at least 10 mins before the listed time. There are no pick-ups at Dadar. Participants who have boarded at Dadar during earlier picnics can choose to board either at Bandra or at Sion. Contribution to defray costs: Rs. 600.00 per head The charges include: 1. To and Fro transport to the beach 2. Veg Breakfast. 3. Veg and Non-Veg Lunch. 4. Tea/Coffee in the evening 5. Use of the Resort sports/games facilities and equipment (subject to availability and prior booking). 6. Changing rooms and showers facilities at the resort. 7. Space to lounge and chill out. Bring along your swimming trunks and sun creams. 4. GB, as a support group, has created this comfort/safe space for gays. Many people at the event may be "newbies" (those still coming to terms with their sexuality and/or those who have mustered the courage to come to such an event for the first time). We request you to be sensitive to the comfort levels of others and to behave and dress accordingly. 5. You have to be above the age of 18 to attend this event. Things not to do: 1. Litter the beach 2. Indulge in hanky-panky. 3. Consume intoxicating items before or during the Picnic.
