I noticed that the automake maintainers
accepted your patch for fixing the multilib
issues in automake. However they also seemed
to indicate that there would be no more 1.9.x
automake releases.
Is the r117741 svn checkin related to this

automake version 1.10 or later rather than the current
1.9.3?

The repost answers my questions. I was wondering if
the changes required the new automake and if so whether
they could be undone if someone regenerated those
configure files with a version of automake before
1.10? It would appear that's not the case.
