I believe Field Type 9 is a date field. Pre v1.6 (soon to be released)
there was no support for Date or Time fields when creating mapinfo files
in gdal / ogr.

I use:
.GetFeature(x).GetFieldAsString(33)
I get "200810260".
Also if I try to create a new file with a datetime field it builds ok
but the field has no values assigned to it.
Is this due to the csharp wrapper not yet supporting datetime fields in
Mapinfo?

I would like to see ticket 2585 be resolved. This has been available in
MITAB since February and Mapinfo has support date fields for a few years
now.
