I've had a Brother HL-1440 B&W Laser for several years. I've never used
it for toner transfer because the fuser was a bit weak on thick stock and
the results looked too patchy (under a loupe) to try etching a board.
I just got a HL-4070CDW (color, duplex, $373 at Amazon) and I just printed
a test

What I have done is to hide the refdes and use text for each component
instead.
I make a silk screen outline of a section and add the hierarchical
string as text to the silk screen. Inside the silkscreen out line each
foot print gets only the same string as shown in the schematics.
Now if I could

Really? I haven't tried this yet - but are you saying the refdes gets
prefixed with the path? It makes sense for the nets, but not the refdes.

I get the usual amount of symbol not found errors. Unlike the file name
suggests, symbols do not seem to be embedded. In particular, the subsheet
symbols are missing...

Since gnetlist makes a flat netlist only, not a netlist of netlists
that references other leaf cell netlists, you hit a practical naming limit
quickly. The netlist nodes 4 levels down will look like:
Hi,
I have a hierarchy with multiple instances of a schematic, this should work
well accordingly to the documentation. However DRC reports errors
ERROR: Duplicated reference C407.
ERROR: Duplicated reference C406.
ERROR: Duplicated reference C405.
ERROR: Duplicated reference C404.

Can you post it to this list too?

I just converted these questions and answers into entries in the wiki.
