The auto DRC prevents making connections that alter the network so it will stop you from connecting nets that aren't already connected (with a rat line). pcb doesn't work like a lot of tools and it is intended to be that way. Many people use it without ever creating a netlist for example. It will let you draw arbitrary copper whever you like. It does not "mode you in" nearly as much as most commercial offerings. It doesn't absolutely require a high end computer to be useful - some people use it successfully on 10 year old computers. These things have their disadvantages as well as their advantages. I'd like to see the feature set have the best of both worlds. I like the idea of having a command to assign a polygon to a net for example ( automagically setting thermals, joins and clearances of objects within it), but I don't want it to be *required* in order to place a polygon. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
