Alistair Reddely cleaned this entire awfully long thing up. Give him a cheers. And Mr Khan Id say the biggest KNOWN one is about Rudolf Hess’ flight. The files on that are sealed until 2041. Honestly I think it just will come out the British king was a Nazi sympathizer (not that it matters at all in the end. The British made sure) and perhaps that there was some British duke Hess knew before the war who owned a large property near where he came down. That duke perhaps had some socially toxic ties. However there may be a bombshell in there. I bet Hess also told the British exactly when Barbarossa would happen. I don’t know if he intended to from the beginning but I’m sure in WW2 Britain Hess was interrogated. Heavily. However that wont be a scandal really - the British *did* warn Stalin who laughed at them and accused them of trying to drag him into their war. (Not directly of course - the intel was passed on but Soviet accounts have that as his response to the information) *since this has garnered interest a little background. This is off the top of my head as I wait at the Drs office so be easy. There was a duke Hess had pre-war ties to in the area and a little used airfield. Hess couldn’t find it. Hess could fly. Hess was increasingly becoming sidelined. Suspected of mental illness he really had almost no purpose once the war started and was getting sidelined increasingly by his rival Bormann. Some hypothesized he found out about Barbarossa and correctly surmised it would be disastrous with Britain still at war. If he somehow negotiated a truce he’d be the man of the war - especially to his idol Hitler. He obviously planned it out. He had a specially tailored Luftwaffe uniform. He knew how to fly. I’m hazy on the exact details but he showed up at an airfield and took a BF110 to Britain. He couldn’t find the airfield he meant to go to and parachuted. Apparently the Nazis only found out a few hours later Hess was missing and a 110 was missing. There was a frenzied search that culminated allegedly in Hitler and co. Hearing the news on the radio that the BBC reported Hess as captured. Hitler allegedly was apoplectic. It didn’t help that everyone of course was lining up to tell Hitler about what a traitor Hess was. And there it is. One must really wonder at Hess’ motives and what was so secret that it’s being held that way until the 100th anniversary of the event. Again at the time it would have been socially damning and a huge deal if the king was a Nazi sympathizer. By now or 2041 there wont be any social impact. Hell; Mussolini’s granddaughter (or daughter?) Is an Italian MP and is all over twitter!
