Thanks Guys for all your input,
This friend of mine knows very little about computers, She is a whiz at
using her company's programs, but that's about it. She's all business when at
work...no playing movie DVD's, Music CD's or playing computer video games.

Just tested. IE will change the displayed size if the CSS sets the

Of course, how many people really set their font-size using em,
regardless of the standards recommendations?

I am pretty sure IE won't change the size of text that is governed by CSS.
Firefox will.

IE users can change font sizes by holding down the control key and
rolling the mouse scroll wheel. Other browsers users can do the
same. It even works in most other Windows programs, although Word &
Excel do the opposite of most other programs.

Thanks for the feedback. I promise, I tried it in IE before
generalizing. What I didn't consider was the fact that I had IE7
installed on the machine I was typing from. You're right: it doesn't
work in IE6.
And I did mention Clear Type, at the end, as a 'oh and by the way.'

Joe,
You may want to add that resizing text in the web browser does not work
with IE. I do not know about IE7.

Yea that's a deffinate. I can't stand it when people run at lower
resolutions than native, kills my eyes.

The new square Inspiron 2200 Laptops have screens with bad connectors. The

IMHO A brand name or no brand in todays computers have very little to do
how they work, or do not work. Most, if not all parts are made in China
or Taiwan. It is just a matter of luck if they fail. Cheaper computers
often have lower quality parts. Higher quality parts may fail as well.

Mepis reminded me of my wireless problems
I have ThinkPad z60t, and all the necessary stuff works with mepis
except the integrated wireless.
Integrated wireless uses atheros chipset, but hardware "can not be

If Mepis won't do it, I'd rip the thing out and use a PC card that does work.
Crappy hardware is just not worth the time.
