Verified signatures and checksums.
Built from source, and successfully ran a couple of simple jobs on a single
node non-secure cluster.
Thanks

Verified signatures and ran examples on a single-node cluster.
Thanks Bobby!

+1 (binding)
I verified the checksum and signature of the source artifact, built the
source artifact, started HDFS and YARN, and ran some simple jobs on a
pseudo cluster. Everything worked as expected.

Thanks for catching that. There was a bug in my script that I used to
build everything for the release. It rebuilt the src tag ball after I had
signed the original. The contents are the same, but the date/time stamps
were off. I uploaded a new version of the offending tar.gz with the

Bobby, the checksums don't match for hadoop-0.23.4-src.tar.tar.gz.
Thanks

Thanks for the help everyone on this. I have re-spun the release. You
can get it at
https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/hadoop/common/tags/release-0.23.4-rc2
http://people.apache.org/~bobby/hadoop-0.23.4-candidate-2/
And through the apache maven staging repository.

Arun, if you could re-spin it I would be happy to let you. If not I can
do it myself on Monday. My box that is set up to do the builds is offline
until Monday. There are some workman fixing some things in my cube this
weekend.
Thanks for your help,
Bobby

Bobby,
It looks like some debugging code got committed and rolled into the
release. I think we'll need to re-spin the rc after fixing it, so -1.

OK I have an RC1 that is the same as RC0 but with HADOOP-8310, YARN-137,
and YARN-138 added in.
You can access the release through the apache maven staging repo,
With the 0.23.4-rc1 tag in subversion, and at
http://people.apache.org/~bobby/hadoop-0.23.4-candidate-1/
The voting starts over then,
OK I'll pull it in once you merge it into branch-0.23

I think HADOOP-8310 should also be added, as we've seen issues with the
AM's web UI related to FileContext#checkPath.

If you think 0.23.5 is a month or so away, I'd encourage you to pull it in
right-away... this will ensure anyone external using this will get a good
out-of-box experience.

Thanks Robert. My +1 (non-binding) stands - I verified the source tarball

I think I would prefer to merge them onto branch-0.23 and have them come
out as part of 0.23.5. It will probably show up in a month or so, as we
expect to find more issues as Yahoo! deploys this to more and larger
clusters. If you really feel strongly about it I am OK with merging it

Thanks for pointing that out.

Hey Bobby,
Thanks for getting this RC out.
You might want to pull in YARN-137 and YARN-138 into this too.

Hi Robert,
Source artifacts are missing. Could you please upload those as a
separate tarball like the last time?
+1 from me (non-binding) for the binaries otherwise.
Verified the signature.

I have built a 0.23.4-rc0 and am calling a release vote on it. As per the
bylaws this vote will be open for 1 week, and will close next Saturday October
6th.
You can access the release through the apache maven staging repo, with the
0.23.4-rc0 tag in subversion, and at
