Hi,
Basically, I'm offering to step in and do the admin/patch-work that needs to
happen to keep it ticking along etc. We have Christian Grobmeier waiting in
the wings providing patches etc, using the mailing lists and Issue Tracker
(on his lonesome currently) and I don't want to see him get
Hi again,
The log4php code is quite stable, but since the last big changes some
time has gone. PHP4, in which the code has been written, has reached
the end of its life in august 2008. No development will be done here.
I really think that we should finish the development of the php4
branch
This really looks cool and I surely would have evluated it for my
project, if available stable before two years.
Would hessian as a binary format be an option for Jaffre btw?
See: http://hessian.caucho.com/
its also released under ASL
I think Commons would benefit from this component and I would

Well, I am highly interested. I would like to see more PHP at Apache,
and if log4php fails, most other PHP project will fail.
This seems like an odd conclusion.
I think i didn't express it good. I meant: Apache has less PHP
Again while maybe not completely relevant, I did want to point out that it
is possible to grow a PHP community inside of Apache, and one does actually
already exist :)
That is indeed very good to hear!

Hi,
I would love to see log4php get more traction, but when a
mentor (myself) is the only person attempting to keep the
project going, it's not good.
yes - its frustrating.
I would encourage any potential developers to contact me directly,
and I will drive thru and fast-track their

Log4php failed to report.
Log4php has been in the Incubator since 2004, and was retired once already,

appears to still be very much a one person project, with Christian Grobmeier

as allready said, I tried to get contact to Log4PHP. The only one who
responded is one of the mentors. But besides that, some other people
mailed me (directly, unfortunatly) and claimed that they tried to
commit patches, but never get heard by any developer.
Unfortunatly I am not a committer

Well, one sure way is to a formal release and get more

log4php would surely benefit of that. I watched this list for a while
now, and it looks like less activity. Somebody here told me that there

So Apache AutoDeploy is already in the race :)
Just reading some of the e-mails in this discussion: from all the
suggested names I have heard AutoDeploy feels the best for me.
I usually feel good when the name of a software is telling me what it
does. If you need to switch to another name, I
I'm not sure of a TLP called php.apache.org, but having lots of projects
written in PHP is a good thing :-)
Since Niclas Hedman pointed out that Apache doesn't want technology
umbrellas, I am stuck with the idea of scripting.apache.org which
hosts not only php, but also JRuby, Ruby and other
Hi,
1. Forget php.apache.org TLP. We don't want technology umbrellas, and
working actively to get rid of those we have. So, your aim would be a
piwi.apache.org TLP instead, which is fine ambition.

Hi all,
we have developed a web framework in PHP, called PIWI:

Codebase supports very much features right now and only lacks user
documentation and has some open discussions left. Find a feature list

It heavily borrows ideas and
