Hi Matt! I understand you already are a Jakarta Commons commiter, right? Wouldn't it be the easiest way to add the project to the Commons sandbox, make it ready for a release and promote it to the proper section quickly. AFAIK all Commons committers are allowed to create projects in the sandbox.
