Nope. They're DVDs. The DVD I was watching the other day was The Last Samurai, and I've been testing with that one and with Hellboy. So the former at least must be iso9660, since I didn't have udf compiled in the kernel or loaded as a module at that time. Now it's loaded as a module, but still

Did you emerge the nvidia drivers, or did you use nvidia's installer? There is a known issue with nvidia drivers and udev. If you used nvidia's installer, try uninstalling and doing it the "gentoo" way: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia-guide.xml This worked dashingly with my XFX GeForce 5500
