I guess thats it then, i will have to perhaps keep it lying around.

issues have been that i dont get
the control buttons working and that is after i have employed a few
hooks to enable the plugin. FWIW the erstwhile gentoo-wiki page (i dont
the current status) on opera also suggested to use gecko-mediaplayer.

Thanks for the reply.
However, my reason for removing firefox was its heaviness. Considering
that xulrunner is quite heavy as well, is it possible to use the
xulrunner-bin package to provide the RDEPEND ?

But, anyways both are quite different systems so, please don't view
anyone with any kind of prejudice. I am not trying to profess any particular
system but, you should only criticise something once you are fairly well versed
with it.
