The new portage can use the userpriv stuff, and I have it enabled.
Part of this requires the distfiles directory to be g+rw, hence every time
portage is run, it appears that portage runs chmod -R g+rw

I am using the KDE CVS ebuilds, which means I have to put up with the odd
crash here and there (but I think it's worth it), so to be useful I was
considering compiling KDE stuff with gcc -ggdb (plus my other flags) so that
