If I have hyper threading enable and I am showing 4 processors (2
actual) when I cat /proc/cpuinfo can I set the make.conf variable to -j5
rather then -j3? -j3 is because I have dual 3.0ghz processors and the
way I understand it is I can modify this to # of processors plus 1.

I heard of or read about an app that tricks the pop customer into
thinking they are checking their mail as often as they like, but only
really allows one check per an allotted time.
Am I remembering correctly or is this just wishful thinking.

I am sure that I heard of something as described in my previous
email. I'll keep hunting.

Hoping to draw from others current/past experience. What would you
suggest to be the best way to authenticate mail users at the ISP level.

You can remove it from boot with:

I stopped using ntpd and just put ntpdate in my /etc/conf.d/local.start file.
# ntpd doesn't work to well so use this for clock setting
ntpdate ntp0

I thought I would poll the masses and see what the groups
take is on these two. I am
currently contemplating either of the two for mail at the ISP level. I like
Postfix, but have been told Qmail is the way to
go.
What do you think? Pros and Cons for both.

I am beginning an install on a Power Edge 2650. Does anyone
have any pointers or similar experiences to share?
The box has booted up fine using the 1.4rc4 live. Only thing is It did
not seem to detect my scsi hard drives.

Is it possible to change where webmail looks/stores
mail? Or is this controlled by the
underlying mail server?
Sorry if my inexperience with sqmail shines through.

Is it being detected at boot? What goes dmesg say?

Subject: [gentoo-user] problem finding network card?
Hi all -
I tried to scan the forum for this, but the
1 goes into passwd, and 2 into group.
portage:x:250:250:portage:/var/tmp/portage:/bin/false
portage::250:portage
Why would this feature be added? Did I do something wrong?

Anyway, just fix /etc/passwd manually, that should fix it...
