hi,
I've installed grub and 3 partitions boot, swap and root in my SCSI hard
drive. but when it boots grub shows the command line instead of a menu.
when i write "configfile (hd0,0)/grub/grub.conf" it shows me the menu.
how can I configure grub show by default the menu??
other thing is when I boo
nothing. This is a normal behaviour but where can I
switch this to work? In Windowz I had to go to display properties.
thanx

hi,
I want to clear all partitions of my HDD and then put the data of the
partitions that I have now in those new partitions. I'm wondering if it
is possible.
basically I want to redefine my HDD partitions without re-installing all
the stuff that I have.
if i do "dd if=/dev/hda2 of=hda2.iso" an
hummm...
just tar / untar the partitions?!!
- boot from a cd;
- tar the parttions;
- create / edit parttions;
- untar the stuff to the partition i want;
- install bootloader.
think I'm not forgetting nothing.
- and that's it?!!

hi,
my terminal in gnome when I'm writing a command bigger than the console
size it wraps the text to the same line that i was witting on :-S .
ex:
xx/[EMAIL PROTECTED]: dir$ cd xxx [wrap]
but it has to be:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]: dir$ cd x
i think you don't need to do nothing special cause i remember i used dd
do bak the partition, mounted the image and just copied the data to a
clean partition. I'm not sure but the root (/) partition or another is
just the same... on NOT! :-)
I will test it in another PC... not the same hardware bu
its a bug. so just use the dnsname and not the ip
http_proxy=http://dnsname:3128 wget ...
working for me

hi,
when I did a kernel 2.6 installation my wget failed. Think is a bug
because of the IPv6 stuff, so i did USE=-ipv6 emerge wget and worked
wget working. but now even if i set http_proxy wget wont use the proxy

hi,
I can't print anything in gentoo :-S.
I add a network printer in the cups web configuration...
Printer State: idle, accepting jobs
then I did "Print Test page" and ...
Printer State: processing, accepting jobs.
"Network host '192.168.88.240' is busy; will retry in 15 seconds..."
hummm,
since the env-update is python I couldn't run that after boot :-S
but a did a find for directories named lib an made a ld.so.conf. now i
can run all stuff again and I will give it a try.
thanx to all
