CPUS+1, ie on a uniprocessor system -j2. I've had probelms in the past

When I downloaded my emails this morning, fetchmail returned the following
error
SMTP error: 501 Bad address syntax not flushed
whatever I do I cannot seem to remove this message from server, fetchmail
--flush results in the same error.
Any ideas?
