I just did a fresh Gentoo 1.4 rc2 install on my desktop PC and I've been
having some issues with the keyboard repeat rate and delay. At a
framebuffer console, the repeat rate was going really slow, so I put the
following in my /etc/conf.d/local.start file:

since I emerged the latest version of alsa-drivers(I use the Intel i815
driver) I get a strange problem. When I play a mp3 file which is only
single channel it is played with double speed. This sounds quite funny
for the first moment but it is really annoying.
