I just filed a bug on this: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17284 I checked, and I don't see a build.xml in junit-3.7. Looks like there's one in junit-3.8.1 (look in src.jar, which emerge unpacks), but you'll need to unmask it. Alternatively, you could edit the ebuild and remove the src_compile section All it's doing is rebuilding junit.jar, which already exists. I was able to get junit to install by doing this and then sticking the new ebuild+digest in my PORTDIR_OVERLAY tree.
