Another question: What did you mount on /mnt/sammy? I'd guess it won't work
if it is an NFS mount.

man swapon(8) says Swap over NFS may not work, which leaves some room
to doubt. man swapon(2) says EINVAL is
so im trying to use swapon to make use of a swap file i made with
# dd if=/dev/zero of=swapfile bs=1024 count=65536
then
mkswap /mnt/sammy/swapfile
then
swapon /mnt/sammy/swapfile
but i get
swapon: swapfile: Invalid argument
im kinda new at all this, so im sorry to wast ppl's time, but
