If the nvidia driver has a man page, try to find:
Option "NoLogo" "boolean"

I've got "freetype" warning as well, but not preventing the start of X.
"nvidia" should be the name of your driver, and there should be a "NoLogo"
line in the xorg.conf
to switch on/off splash
