Yep. On my machine, I use a variable.
Before running configure, you can therefore try
export KDEDIR=/usr/kde/3.4
and then you do not need the prefix option.

I have been trying to install some new styles and stuff for KDE,
all with configure scripts. The problem with like all 6 of them
is that it always gets this error.
