I'm installing a cluster, i'm using hearbeat for this, at this time
everything is working fine, if the machine 'dies' the other takes over and
all the programs/setting are taking over fine.
The next step is now to control not only full machine but the network
conectivity to that machine.

I'm not familiar with hearbeat so I can't help you.
But if you want HA-connectivity and you have 2 or more switches it can be
interesting for you to read about the bonding-driver (linux-kernel i.e.
/usr/src/linux-2.6.11-gentoo-r6/Documentation/networking/bonding.txt).
