[gentoo-user] What is the smart move on boot-loader

Once a long time gentoo user returning after about 2 yrs and have forgotten nearly everything I ever new about gentoo. Currently, what is the wise move on a fresh install (gentoo as vbox guest on a solaris host (Openindiana 151_a9)), as concerns installing a boot-loader?
