Did you compile in support for your IDE controller?
Well, I think so... is not a SCSI drive or similar. It is just an IDE hard
drive, no special support is required.
Anyway it doesn't matter I've re-formatted with:
/dev/hda1 ext3 (here will go /)
/dev/hda1 swap
