massive change of dropping automake can't really be called beta, so I
think we need to view this as more alpha like.

The autotools build resulted in libgeos-X.Y.Z.so, which was also its
SONAME, and the libgeos.so symlink to it.
The cmake builds results in libgeos.so.X.Y.Zpre, which is also its
