Hello again, This morning I replicated 5 datastores from shapefiles on another Debian server with Geoserver 2.0.2. The same behaviour: after a few requests the CPU simply goes to 100%. This is most likely a problem with Geoserver itself, not with the setup. Thank you, Luís

Hello again, I think I've isolated the issue somewhat. A request to a shapefile layer with a scale higher than 1:2 clogs the server. I'm not certain yet if this is the case also with PostGIS layers, but definitely Geoserver struggling with large scales. My development environment is Ubuntu
