G'Day all,
Sorry, rank noob queries here: just trying to get a default install of
GeoServer (2.5) connected to a default install of PostgreSQL (9.1/Debian
wheezy) (with PostGIS extensions).
So the fist challenge is just getting the workspace set up effectively.
PostGIS is running on our remote
Ahh, my status as a complete GeoServer neophyte has been revealed!
Nonetheless, a few follow-up clarifications might be useful:
1: What would be the process to download and install a community module?
I found policy documentation here:

Hello,
I want to do the following:
- set up a CSW
- use MySQL as Database
- GetCaps with default table "portal_geo_services", retrieve GetRecords
with data inside this table
- GetRecord should display a SQL JOIN from "portal_geo_services" and
"portal_geo_layers", maybe "portal_geo_layers_boxes"
Dear Martin,
to be honest I am not completely sure about:
-a- what you are asking
-b- what you are trying to do with GeoServer
Can you elaborate a bit more?

Hi guys,
We're running GS2.5, 18 March 2014 build, and are struggling with the
challenge of uploading feature type layers to our PostGIS install (which
is remote, and locked down to local host).
I see mention of a Data Importer here:

Hello,
we want to set up a CSW service in combination with MySQL. There a three
tables:
portal_geo_services => default information like in the GetCapabilities
section
portal_geo_layers => layers from services, foreign key = id_service
portal_geo_layers_boxes => bounding boxes from layers, fo
Eric / Andrea / Jonathan - Thanks for your inputs and apologies for the delay
in coming back to you all.
Everything now seems to be running ok, guess we'll just keep an eye on it.
Next probable action will be to upgrade Geoserver to at least the 2.4.x version
as mentioned by Eric.
In the mean
Andrea,
Thank you very much!
I didn't notice the "a" option. What I had to do is simply add "a" rights
to the workspace in addition to "r" and "w".
Now the new user can only see the limited number of workspaces.
Best

Hello Andrea,
I'm a bit confused now. What is the point of giving W rights to users when
I cannot see any writing (adding layers, modifying layers, adding stores
etc.) options after logging in?
I don't wish to give admin rights to the new user, hence he/she would be
able to modify his/hers role qu

Dear Users,
I want to restrict users to read/write layers, create stores only in a
special workspace. This sounds quite easy, however I'm stuck with a problem
here.
I created a new user (let's call it "gyakornok") together with a new role
("ROLE_GYAKORNOK"), and assigned this role to the new user
Dear Ben,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I tried create all those
directories and place my favicon over there, restarted the server, but no
changes happened.
I am not interested to change the favicon, my real objective is
to change the logo of geoserver which is displayed o
