Sina,
I checked with our deployment team and they are currently using this one:
http://files.ivec.org/geoserver/geoserver-trunk/2010-09-16/
Kind regards,
Ben.

Sina,
we cannot recommend a nightly build for production environments until
they have undergone substantial testing.
Our production deployments use geoserver trunk nightly builds:

Thanks Ben,
I would like to run the updated app-schema in a production environment if
possible, do recommend just using a recent nightly build of Geoserver?
Cheers
Sina

Sina,
your second error also results from using plugins from a different build
to the main geoserver. This is always dangerous.
Kind regards,
Ben.

Sina,
you cannot use plugins for GeoTools 2.7 with GeoServer 2.0. They are
incompatible. (In this case, Query was changed from an interface to a
class.)
You should always use plugins from the same build as the core GeoServer.
It is often the case that changes are made in more than one jar file

I was previously using app-schema 2.6.4with Geoserver 2.0.2 and it
processed the following WFS GetFeature request fine:
http://localhost:8082/geoserver/wfs?request=GetFeature&version=1.1.0&typeName=LCDB1:ni_lc_1020&maxfeatures=1
but with app-schema 2.7 M4 I get the following error
Sina,
this issue should now be fixed on trunk and stable (2.0.x). Please wait
until the next nightly build and then try again. Please let us know if
problems persist.
Kind regards,
Ben.
