I recently used the netcdf plugin for geoserver 2.8 found here (
http://ares.opengeo.org/geoserver/2.8.x/ext-latest/). I didn't have any
issues. Curious to as to why or how you would store the PostGIS mosaic
indices as PostGIS doesn't ingest NetCDF datasets.
