Thanks, Jody. The ArcGridVisualizationTest.testReadFileGZip pause is interesting. That naughty test uses File.toURI().toURL() not URLs.fileToUrl(File). I wonder if it produces a broken URL on your platform? Could a broken URL be misinterpreted as a remote resource or otherwise be unusually slo
